From Clean Bean to Perfect Roast: How We Craft Exceptional Coffee
Consistent, High-Quality Coffee Starts Before the Roast
At Ontario's West Coast Coffee Company, we believe that a great cup of coffee begins long before the beans hit the roaster. It all starts with our triple cleaning process, which removes any non-coffee materials — like sticks, stones, leaves, and even tiny bugs — that can sometimes end up in the sacks as the beans are dried. After that, the beans go through metal detection to eliminate even the smallest traces of metal, ensuring only clean, high-quality coffee moves forward. From there, we use profile roasting, a precise method that allows us to carefully control temperature throughout the roasting cycle. This helps us bring out the best in every bean — capturing its natural flavour while ensuring consistency in every batch. Each roast, whether a single origin or a blend, has a dedicated profile based on hours of tasting and testing. While the final roast temperature determines the bean’s colour, it’s the entire journey through the roast that shapes its quality, aroma, and taste.
